Of course, we also encourage the use of Uber/Lyft, taxis, carpooling, and public transit. Please Be Safe!

What Happened to the Picnic?

As you've probably noticed, the number of SEC fans in Denver has grown exponentially over the last 10 years. This is great news, but it also makes getting the proper parks permits/insurance/security/organization extremely difficult. We spent a tremendous amount of time and effort investigating many options, and in the end, the united SEC schools decided that the best option for this year's event was to have a hosted party at an event space.

Please rest assured that we're very excited and hopeful for the quality of this year's SEC Kick-off event, and we've done everything we can to preserve the picnic environment and to keep the event family-friendly and fun for all with MORE activities and entertainment options! We look forward to having you join us!

4/23 2nd annual SEC Ski & Ride A-basin Beach Party Hosted by Florida
We're all signed up for 2 picnic spots again up at A-basin for some late season fun!  Last year was a ton of fun, so hopefully if you missed out, you will make it out this year!

An Evite will be going out, & we GREATLY need your help.  If you are going to attend we ABSOLUTELY need you to RSVP so that we can have a good headcount for food. Please be sure to include any guests you will have with you on the total on the Evite.

You will be responsible for your own transportation and lift ticket.  The SEC schools participating are all splitting duties on food, as well as the picnic site costs. Since we don't collect dues that would help cover this costs, we'd greatly appreciate you making a donation if you attend.

Our own club member Daniel Gustek will be bringing up a grill for us to cook up some brats, burgers, etc!

An Evite WILL BE GOING OUT where you will need to RSVP!

It is necessary for everyone interested to RSVP on that Evite as the number of people attending will impact planning & costs for the event.

We've reserved picnic space at the A Basin Beach where will have games, music, and food.  Come out to hit the slopes or just to enjoy a day out of the city up in the mountains!

Time to get back into SEC Action as we face Ole Miss, & to celebrate, we're having a fish fry! The Irish Hound will be serving up a game day special of fried Catfish, on the bone, along with sides, for this weekend's game day party.

For those of you over 21, there will also be a special on Deep Eddy Sweet Tea Vodka! You can get a special Mason Jar for $5 for a sweet tea vodka drink, & then get sweet tea vodka drink refills for $4 a piece AND get to keep the glass! (Glass must be empty to leave the building) :)

Alabama Crimson Tide wide

IT'S HERE!!  Time for a slightly different Tide & Tiger matchup for the National Championship game.  ROLLING ON TO SWEET #16!

In anticipation of many more fans coming out for this game, we have 3 watch party locations set up. Huge thanks to the University of Kentucky for allowing us to use the College Inn for our 2nd location once again.  This is a great option for those that get to the Irish Hound and find it to be more crowded than anticipated as it is just a mile from the Irish Hound.

And thanks to club member Oscar Allen who's stepped up to be the point person for a 3rd location at the Fowl Line in Castle Rock for those of you that live South of Denver.

All locations will be staffed up and ready to go for Bama Fans!  Each also has it's own game specials so check with them.  They DO NOT TAKE RESERVATIONS.  Seating is first come, first serve.

Please see below for details and help spread the word as many people that will make it out are likely to not know that we do not typically have these sort of crowds or that other options are available.

For the Irish Hound:
We have free street parking, BUT PLEASE CHECK THE SIGNS ALONG THE STREET WHERE YOU PARK!  St. Paul in front of the Irish Hound is now RESIDENTIAL only.  You can park on the cross streets to the north of 6th Ave. as well as along 6th Ave in spots.

For the College Inn:
We have free street parking, BUT PLEASE CHECK THE SIGNS ALONG THE STREET WHERE YOU PARK!  There are signs in certain areas around the bar that are RESIDENTIAL or TIME Limited parking.  There is a small lot behind the College Inn.

**AS A REMINDER - these are residential areas, so please be respectful of the neighbors.

For the Fowl Line:
Parking lot!

For those old & new to the Irish Hound, here are some reminders on how things work:

- "WHERE'S MY SERVER? DO I ORDER AT THE BAR?"  - PLEASE DO NOT crowd the bar area.  The Bartenders at the Hound also work the floor and will frequently circle the place to wait on the tables as well.  If you crowd the bar, you make it difficult for them to get out around to the tables as well as block the view of others. THIS ALSO APPLIES TO THE COLLEGE INN. (PS - don't forget to
tip your bartenders!)

- "WHERE DO I SIT?" - If you come in and see a few big tables with just a few folks at it, don't be a stranger! Introduce yourself & grab a seat (if they aren't using the whole table). The reverse also applies - if you sit at a big table but don't need all the other seats, please welcome people to sit with you. There will be a few more small tables and chairs in the back room this year.

- IS IT KID FRIENDLY? -  Yes, The Irish Hound is a neighborhood pub, however we do advise you to use your own discretion as it is still predominately a bar where adults will be drinking.  Evening games tend to have a larger crowd.

Please also keep in mind that the bar has the right to refuse service to anyone they choose.  And even thought this shouldn't be a surprise, you are required to show ID, so please do not hassle the bar about this.

Support Our Chapter!

We are one of the few local chapters that does not collect dues. In lieu of local chapter dues, we simply ask that you show up for events and support our raffles and/or make donations to our local chapter scholarship.   Our chapter scholarship is awarded each year to an outstanding graduating Colorado student enrolling as a freshman at Alabama. This is funded in part by National Alumni dues by alumns living in Colorado, but you do not have to be an Alumni to help out our scholarship, AND if you are an Alumni, you can also help contribute additional money to the scholarship.

You can make your tax deductible contribution via the button below.

If you are an alum, please keep your National Alumni dues paid.  There is a direct link below as well.

For those of you who get the Alabama Alumni Magazine, our very own local member & former president, Dan Riley is featured on page 15 of the Fall 2010 edition, Association News on "Giving Back."

The article talks about Dan's extensive involvement with scholarship for the University.

Dan established the Denver chapter and the SEC Picnic. He is a statistician for the CU Buffs & Denver Broncos so sadly he doesn't make it to many of our game watching parties, but hopefully some of you were able to meet him at the picnic.

It's a nice article that I will scan and post soon.

Congrats to Dan for his recognition and dedication to the University of Alabama!!
